The CUF Kit (Care Under Fire) Tactical Medic Thigh Rig
Designd from the ground up - by and for medics.
CUF Tactical Medic Thigh Rig by HS Gear
The CUF Kit line is designed from the ground up as a medic system. We didn't take an infantry bag or flight kit, strap a couple elastic loops in it and call it a medic bag. We started from the best place possible - the drawing board. We went through many revisions, several sewn protoypes, and then we put our bags to the test - we sent the protoypes to soldiers and Marines to test in Iraq and Kuwait, SWAT medics to test in CQB environments, and corrections specialists to try in jails. What we ended up with was a solid, tested design that has the features REAL medics need. Not "market research" people, not "product design teams" - medics. Plain and simple.

DocT's Gear review: ****The CUF Tactical Medic Thigh Rig by HS Gear in action. This Devil Dog got a bit hot in the sun so I had him get on the deck as my partners in crime made a shelter for him. In the first photo I'm getting a basic history and time line from him as I opened the CUF to get a digital thermometer out of the bag. I was not in the least concerned with spilling any of my gear do to the rigs nifty "Blood Bucket Design". I had the freedom to pay attention to my patient not my gear. The second photo is a blow up of the first showing the open CUF In the third and fourth images I was asked for a pad and pen by one of the first responders so he could scribe medical notes (I trained them well). I got the requested items out and then opened the other CUF to get my glucometer out to check blood sugar levels. No way could I do this with any thing ells on the market! I would have had to secure the first bag to open the other or spend time picking every thing up off the ground. Great design! This brings me to another point; you can jump up, and flat out run if you need to DiDi in a hurry. With the CUF’s quick close flap all you need to do is drop it and your things are held inside till you hit cover and can secure the zippered seal. Try slapping on an occlusive dressing under fire and then dragging your buddy to safety as you try and hold all your supplies in an old school bag …No thanks! If the design was not enough to make you get one the workmanship is off the chart. Not only will it hold what you need plus two Mags and a light, it’s made tough! I have my CUF rigged on the LBV and tried to low crawl them off. The only thing I got for my attempt was dirty …. During a game of “try and flip the Corpsman” a marine grabbed one of my CUF bags. The ALICE clips bent off and all he got was the bag and a dumb look on his face when I reversed and did a leg sweep. He cursed all the way to the ground ….. I got my bag back. All in fun. The CUF Tactical Medic Thigh Rig in my judgment is a great tool to have at your side. For me I think the rig is better for what it’s designed for, as a drop down on your leg. Both of the Corpsman I work with have one and love-em. I put it on my LBV to test the design of the bag. HS will soon have a Medic vest with the CUF bag as part of the vest. This will take care of the ONLY gripe I have. The bag rides to far out when clipped to the LBV do to the drop down attachments. The Medic vest will be hi-speed and have a lower profile. I look forward to seeing and using it. HooRa!
